As we watch the beginnings of the high season arrive here on Hilton Head Island this weekend, we’re not too concerned that it may take a little more time to make it around the Sea Pines Circle.

Our visitors have carried our hometown reputation around the world and caused Hilton Head Island to be recognized as “Best Beach in the South” by Southern Living Magazine; “America’s Best Island” by Conde Nast Traveler; and “Best Island in the Continental U.S.” by Travel & Leisure – to name just a few of the kudos received over the past year. (Read more about our award-winning island here.)

Sure, that’s good for the value of our homes. And a lot of our neighbors started their lives here as visitors once upon a time. So sharing what we’ve got for a while each year is a small price to pay in order to create a community that is the envy of many.
We heard the story last year about a family of visitors who took a picture of their son sitting on singer-songwriter Gregg Russell’s chair under the Liberty Oak at Harbour Town and holding his guitar. The little boy was Brad Paisley, today one of Nashville’s most respected artists. Just one high-profile example from the thousands of stories of how the goodness we have here can go down through generations and ripple out to the wide world.

Mary Ann and I are grateful to have taken part in the story of Hilton Head Island for almost 45 years. And we’re always happy for another chance to help someone make their dreams into a home here.
